GRUB’S MYSTERY GREEN. A medium-height, mid-early, and productive variety. The first fruits ripened two weeks earlier than early-season tomatoes. The plants are compact but strong, with dark green potato leaves (there is also a variant of this variety with regular leaves). The ripe fruits are bronze-green, juicy, very sweet, with a fragrant and flavorful amber-green flesh. When fully ripe, orange-pink marbling appears in the flesh.
Green tomato varieties generally don’t store well, but a few of them are a must-grow. This variety has decent resistance to many diseases. The bush is strong and sprawling, about 1.2 meters tall in open ground. Each truss produces 3–4 fruits weighing 200–300 grams, with high yield. When pruned to 1–2 stems, the fruits become much larger.
COLOR AND FRUITS
Beefsteaks of bronze-green color, juicy, tasty, and sweet. When overripe, an orange hue appears both outside and inside. Even overripe fruits maintain good flavor and quality for a long time. One of the most undemanding green-fruited varieties. The earliest among green beefsteaks.
This variety has increased disease resistance. If not the best, it’s definitely one of the best green-fruited varieties. I highly recommend paying attention to this and other green varieties—they are among the sweetest and can replace fruit, especially in regions where pears don’t grow.
