HOY x DELICIOUS. Is an indeterminate, mid-season, and very productive tomato variety, ideal for those who love large, meaty fruits. In open ground, the plants reach about 2 meters in height, forming strong, vigorous bushes with thick stems that require sturdy supports and reliable tying. The variety boasts exceptional yields — the first two fruits of the season weighed 1012 g and 826 g, respectively.
Individual fruits can weigh up to 1.4 kg. With such traits, it’s easy to estimate the impressive total yield from a single plant. The tomatoes are large, glossy, deeply ribbed, and resistant to cracking. Inside, they are dense and juicy, with a rich, sweet flavor and a pleasant touch of acidity. The taste and aroma are refined and noble — the variety has been recognized as one of the best in taste evaluations.
VARIETY HISTORY
This rare variety was developed by crossing the well-known American variety Delicious with the Hoy tomato. It handles summer heat very well, though slight hollowing may occur in the seed cavities under water stress — a characteristic, not a flaw. In the 2022 season, Polish tomato growers included it in their personal TOP-10, calling it the “Discovery of the Year” and best of the season in terms of flavor.
Since then, it has continued to impress with reliable yields and superb flavor, especially in warm seasons favorable for ripening. To verify varietal purity, fresh seeds were re-purchased from the USA in 2019, and when compared with plants grown from the older batch, no differences were found — confirming 100% varietal stability and consistency.
