LARGE BARRED BOAR. A mid-late season, tall, and very productive tomato variety bred by the well-known American breeder Brad Gates. In open ground, plants reach a height of about 1.8 to 2 meters. They form a strong, sprawling bush with a well-developed root system and abundant foliage that protects the fruits from overheating and sunburn. The variety requires staking and regular pruning (suckering).
Fruits are very large — the average weight is around 350 grams, with some reaching up to 600 grams. They are round-flat and slightly ribbed. The skin is deep reddish-brown with distinctive green “metallic” stripes, giving the tomatoes an exceptionally decorative and striking appearance. The skin is thin but firm, resistant to cracking, making the variety suitable for storage and transportation.
The flesh is dense, meaty, and very juicy. The flavor is rich and complex, with dominant fruity notes harmoniously balanced by a refreshing acidity. The interior flesh is pinkish-brown, with a pronounced, intense aroma. Thanks to its excellent taste, this variety is ideal for fresh eating, as well as for making juices, sauces, and salads. The variety shows consistent productivity. Seeds were purchased directly from the USA.
