MARLOWE CHARLESTON. Tall indeterminate tomato variety (plant height up to 1.8 m). It exhibits vigorous growth and requires staking and proper pruning. The foliage is large, broad, and potato-leaved — dense and protective, effectively shielding the fruits from direct sunlight. Fruits are very attractive, deep raspberry-pink to red in color, with pronounced ribbing near the stem and often irregular in shape, giving them a striking, heirloom-like appearance.
This is a large-fruited variety: the average fruit weight is 300-500 grams, with some fruits reaching up to 1 kg or more. The flesh is extremely meaty and dense, with minimal seeds and juice, and almost no internal cavities. Ideal for fresh salads, thick sauces, lecho, pastes, and home canning. One of the variety’s main highlights is its outstanding taste: sweet, well-balanced, with a subtle hint of acidity, very mild and refined. It has a strong, old-fashioned tomato aroma.
This rare variety is highly valued among tomato collectors and gourmet growers for its unique flavor profile, consistent yields, and showy fruits. Suitable for cultivation both in open ground and greenhouses. An excellent choice for those seeking something truly special in the tomato world.
