MATT'S WILD CHERRY. The seeds of this variety were brought to the U.S. state of Maine by Teresa Arellanos de Mena from her family in Hidalgo, Mexico. There, the variety quickly became a favorite among gardeners. It shows some resistance to light frosts, which makes it suitable even for regions with cooler summers. A true "jewel" among cherry tomatoes — you can harvest hundreds of fruits from a single plant during the season.
This is a tall, early-maturing, and extremely productive tomato variety, known for its consistent yields even in cooler climates. In open ground, plants can grow up to 2 meters tall. They are indeterminate, vigorous, sprawling, and have regular (non-potato) leaf type. The variety requires staking and pruning. Perfect for fresh eating, especially in salads or as a healthy alternative to sweets.
Long trusses produce 10 to 20 miniature, round, shiny fruits of deep red color. Each tomato weighs about 3-4 grams, though some sources report weights of up to 10 grams. The fruits are exceptionally sweet, with a bright fruity flavor and rich aroma — like candy.
