MAYA AND SION'S AIRDRIE CLASSIC. A medium-tall (plant height around 1.2 meters), mid-season, indeterminate tomato variety of Canadian origin, created and stabilized by breeder Jeffrey Casey. It is based on an initial cross between the famous Brandywine and the ultra-early Stupice, made by Stanley Zubrowski. Plants form strong bushes with very large, characteristic potato-type foliage that provides excellent fruit cover from the sun. Fruits are flattened-round, slightly ribbed at the shoulders, very attractive, deep dark red in color with glossy skin. The flesh is dense, meaty yet juicy, with a classic tomato flavor — rich, slightly sweet, and aromatic.
Each fruit weighs between 100 and 250 grams, averaging around 150-200 g. The flavor is wonderfully balanced and highly appreciated by both amateur and professional growers. The variety has excellent yield potential. A key feature of this tomato is that fruits ripen early, abundantly, and uniformly in the first half of the season. Suitable both for fresh eating and for making sauces, juices, and tomato-based dishes. Due to its early and reliable production, it is especially valued in regions with short growing seasons. According to the breeder, the variety is among his personal Top-30 for flavor and Top-10 in seed demand.
