MIDNIGHT ROMA. A unique plum-shaped tomato with a deep purplish-red color, bred by Dr. Jim Myers from Oregon State University (USA). This variety is the result of a cross between Oregon Star — a meaty, flavorful tomato perfect for slicing — and Indigo Rose, a dark purple tomato rich in anthocyanins. This variety is sure to become a new favorite in your garden! Plants are well-leafed and highly ornamental. Medium-height bushes (up to 1.5 m in open ground) have a dense and compact canopy. What makes this variety especially decorative is the nearly black color of the fruits in their early ripening stage. These glossy, mirror-like tomatoes look truly magical.
The medium-sized fruits weigh between 60 and 80 grams, have an elongated plum shape, and feature firm, smooth skin. As they ripen, a red hue begins to appear at the bottom, and a slight softness to the touch indicates full maturity. The purple color intensifies under direct sunlight. The flavor is rich and deep with a touch of sweetness and low acidity. The flesh is dense, meaty, creamy in texture, and contains few seeds.
