ORANGE MANGO. A variety from Sofia Saakova, the result of meticulous breeding by crossing Blue Orange and Heart of Ashgabat, with the related variety Melon Liqueur in its lineage. The line is stabilized at the F5 generation, though under certain growing conditions a slight anthocyanin blush may appear on the fruit shoulders. The plant is indeterminate, mid-season, and reaches 1.5-1.8 m when grown outdoors. The plant is neat, of medium vigor, with well-developed, spreading, slightly drooping foliage. Inflorescences are simple, bearing 3-4 fruits per cluster. The fruits are a true garden highlight: large, weighing 150-300 g, with some up to 350 g.
They have an elegant flattened heart shape with gentle “ridges,” giving them special charm. The skin shows a rich crimson-raspberry color with a warm orange hue near the stem, creating a vivid blush effect. The flesh is dense and meaty, with very few seeds and minimal seed cavities; when cut it looks like solid fruit “meat.” The texture is buttery and juicy, and the flavor is rich and sweet with a subtle spicy note and a delicate tartness. Fruits resist cracking, transport well, and are excellent both fresh in salads and for processing. The variety is valued for its consistent yields, excellent market appearance, and truly gourmet taste.
