ORANGE MINSK. In 2006, Andrei Baranovski from Minsk, Belarus, bought seeds of this tomato variety from an elderly woman at a local market. So impressed by their quality and taste, he decided to send the seeds to the well-known US seed company Victory Seeds, where the variety became known as Orange Minsk. Since then, it has gained popularity among Western gardeners as one of the best examples of so-called folk breeding — varieties developed and preserved by ordinary people.
This is a mid-season, indeterminate (1,5+ m), high-yielding tomato variety. It is known for its reliable fruiting and ease of cultivation, making it especially valuable to home gardeners and heirloom variety collectors. The fruits are large, meaty, and richly orange-colored, without the typical green shoulders seen in many other varieties. The taste is excellent — moderately sweet with a refreshing hint of acidity, full-bodied and pleasant.
The flesh deserves special mention: dense, juicy, with few seeds. It is ideal both for fresh consumption and for processing — perfect for sauces, juices, and pastes. The variety has earned recognition for its outstanding flavor, disease resistance, and consistent productivity. It's a real gem for collectors and for anyone who appreciates natural, homegrown tomatoes with a rich heritage.
