PIGLET WILLIE'S FRENCH BLACK. A mid-season, tall, and exceptionally high-yielding tomato variety of unknown origin, classified as a "folk selection." This unique tomato was collected by gardener Piglet Willie from the USA during his trip to France, giving the variety a special story and charm. In open ground conditions, the plants reach about 1.7 meters tall, forming strong and robust bushes with good foliage. The fruits are perfectly round and remarkably uniform.
Their coloration is captivating — a rich red-black at the top gradually transitions into a warm brown shade at the bottom, creating a noble gradient effect. The fruits are very firm and resilient to the touch, making them convenient for transportation and storage. The sweetness is moderate, but the overall taste qualities make this variety truly magical and memorable. For its decorative qualities and flavor, the variety has received a 5+ rating from us.
Each cluster bears up to six fruits weighing between 200 and 400 grams, which can be easily harvested in whole clusters, significantly facilitating the picking process. The flesh is quite meaty and juicy, with a flavor distinguished by unusual depth — as if enhanced by a special bouquet of aromas that is difficult to describe precisely. This tomato is renowned for its impressive productivity — clusters with fruits develop every two leaves, ensuring abundant and regular harvests.
