RASPBERRY ROSE (HIMBEEROSE). A compact tomato variety particularly valued for its ornamental qualities, early ripening, and sweet taste. It is a bushy balcony tomato with a trailing growth habit, ideally suited for hanging baskets, balcony boxes, and small pots. In open ground, the plants form a more spreading, neat bush. The plants have regular leaves, a dense structure, and are medium green in color. The bush height reaches about 30 cm, and when grown in hanging baskets, the shoots trail and can extend up to 60 cm in length.
The variety does not require complex shaping and needs almost no pruning, making it convenient for beginner gardeners and container growing enthusiasts. It is an early variety: just over 50 days pass from pollination to full maturity. Due to the inflorescences' tendency to branch, up to 15 or more fruits often form on a single cluster, ensuring high yield despite the plant's compact size. The fruits are oval, slightly egg-shaped, often with a small neat tip.
VARIETY CHARACTERISTICS
The tomatoes are 2-3 cm in size and weigh up to 25 g. They are dense, firm, fleshy, and not prone to cracking. The flesh is juicy, soft, with 2-3 seed chambers. The skin is smooth and neat, protecting the fruit well and maintaining its marketable appearance. A special feature of the variety is the expressive color change during ripening. When unripe, the fruits are milky white, then turn red, and at full biological maturity, they acquire a bright pink, raspberry hue. On a single plant, you can observe tomatoes at different stages of coloration simultaneously, which adds to the bush's ornamental value.
The taste is harmonious, sweet, with a light, pleasant tomato tartness. The fruits are excellent for fresh consumption, garnishing dishes, and snacking straight from the plant. Thanks to its compactness, high yield, and beautiful coloration, this tomato is a wonderful choice for growing on a balcony, terrace, or in a small garden. Information about the breeder and the exact origin of the variety is unfortunately lacking, but it has long been known among balcony tomato enthusiasts and is deservedly popular due to its stability, ornamental qualities, and excellent taste.
