RED PEAR FRANCHI, FRENCH RED PEARS. Mid-season bright red truffle-large fruit, with a beautiful original shape. A pear (truffle) broad at the base, with dense deep ribs, without green shoulders. In section — red aromatic flesh with 5–6 seed chambers and thick walls around the edges. Renewal of old seeds. Mid-season, tall, fantastically productive variety. Fruits are very dense, of various shapes, mostly pear-shaped, deep red, uniform, excellent quality, weighing 200-400 g (we obtained one fruit weighing 565 g), meaty. This year the fruits are not too sweet, but very aromatic and have a good balanced taste.
We gave 4 points for taste. For yield — 6 points. But overall, in our opinion, this is one of the best varieties. From the editor: Franchi is the surname of Italian immigrants and the name of the company they founded. Therefore, the correct translation of the variety name is “Red Pear Franchi”. Top score for beauty! The variety has long been distributed as “French Red Pears”. Flavor — balanced, meaty, juicy (though with small cavities), high sweetness. The plant is huge, very strong, 1.5 m tall, with 3-4 fruits per cluster weighing up to 600 g — clusters are overloaded! Top score for productivity!
