SAN MARZANO. A mid-early indeterminate variety developed by specialists at the Italian company Hortus. The plant is medium-sized, reaching up to 2 m in height, and produces 10–12 fruit trusses with 5–6 fruits on each. Suitable for growing both outdoors and in greenhouses. The variety adapts well to different temperature conditions. Plants develop best in sunny locations. Requires regular suckering and training to 2 stems. The fruits are elongated, pepper-shaped, up to 12 cm long, bright raspberry-red in color, and weigh 90–100 g.
The flesh is moderately juicy, while the skin is firm and glossy. The flavor is sweet with a slight acidity. The tomatoes are well suited for fresh consumption, cooking various dishes, and canning. They are also excellent for drying and dehydrating. The variety has good resistance to common diseases, with particularly high resistance to fusarium, alternaria, and cladosporiosis. Standard preventive measures are recommended to protect against late blight and pests.
