SERGEANT PEPPER’S BRONZE FINGER. An expressive tomato variety with anthocyanin coloring, representing one of the successful breeding forms obtained by cross-pollinating Bronze Sergeant Pepper. The variety was developed in Russia, in the Stavropol region, by collector and breeder Sofia Saakova, and is an authorial variation based on the American Sgt. Pepper’s (by Jason Hines), supplemented with an unknown variety. The plant is tall, mid-early in maturity, reaching a height of about 1.5 meters in open ground. The bushes are dense, well-leafed, with thin, graceful yet sufficiently strong shoots.
The overall appearance of the plant is highly decorative, especially during the period of mass fruiting when the clusters are literally studded with beautiful fruits. The fruits are plum-shaped with a neat tip, elongated and uniform, weighing from 80 to 200 grams, most often in the range of 120-180 grams. Up to 9 fruits can set in a cluster, ensuring high and stable yields. The fruit coloring is one of the main highlights of the variety: a dense anthocyanin blush creates a rich bronze-purple hue, especially pronounced on the sunny side, making the tomatoes exceptionally striking and attractive.
The flesh is juicy, dense, with a good texture. The flavor is harmonious, sweet, without excessive acidity, with subtle spicy notes and a bright aroma. In tasting assessments, the variety confidently deserves a score of 5. The fruits are excellent for fresh consumption, salads, baking, and also look impressive in slices and preserves due to their shape and rich coloring. A successful combination of exotic appearance, high yield, and excellent taste, this variety is for collectors and connoisseurs of anthocyanin tomatoes, capable of becoming a true decoration for both the garden and the table
