STRAWBERRY GERMAN RED. This heirloom German variety is distinguished by large, meaty fruits of deep red color, shaped like an oxheart. Interestingly, in appearance they may also resemble a large garden strawberry. In open ground, the plants reach about 1.5 m in height. They develop strong stems and abundant foliage, which provides good protection of the fruits from sunscald. Another advantage is resistance to major tomato diseases. The variety is highly productive: a single plant can yield many tomatoes weighing between 250 and 500 g, with some fruits growing even larger. The shape of the tomatoes is often irregular — from heart-shaped to oval-round, giving the harvest a special “rustic” charm.
The flesh is dense, tender, and at the same time very juicy. The flavor is bright, rich, sweet-and-tangy, with that memorable “old-fashioned” tomato aroma.
