ZAGRAVA . A mid-early variety bred by Ukrainian breeder Oleksii Kulyk. The plant is strong, vigorous and spreading, reaching about 1.3 m in height in the open ground. The trusses are well filled, usually producing 8–10 fruits each. The variety is highly productive, with fruits that are well uniform and attractive in appearance. The tomatoes have a very unusual and striking coloration. The main background is rich yellow, covered with pink blushes, stripes, streaks and winding patterns that seem to flow across the fruit. This bicolour coloration makes every tomato unique.
As the fruits ripen, the pink areas become more pronounced and create a beautiful contrast against the sunny yellow skin. Fruit weight can vary considerably, from approximately 50 to 750 g. Inside, the fruits are juicy, very meaty and dense, with a pleasant spicy note in the flavor. The flesh is distinctly sweet and richly aromatic. Interestingly, the intensity of sweetness is directly related to the amount of pink coloration: the larger the pink “shoulder” on the fruit, the more sunlight it has received and the sweeter the tomato becomes.
This is an excellent choice for those who appreciate not only flavor but also unusual-looking tomatoes. The bright bicolour coloration, high productivity, meaty sweet flesh and large fruits make this variety interesting both for collectors and for growing in an ordinary garden. Each plant can reward you with an abundance of beautiful, delicious fruits that look especially spectacular when cut open.
