BLUE INN, Belgium. A relatively new tomato variety, bred in 2012 by José Antoine (Belgium). This variety is medium-growing (up to 1.3 m tall), with a growing season of about 100-110 days. Fruit production continues until autumn. The yield is good; the plant prefers greenhouses but can also be grown in open ground in warm regions. Fruits weighing from 100 to 250 grams, round‑flattened in shape, resembling miniature beefsteaks, with characteristic broad and soft shoulders and prominent ribbing. The main feature of the variety is the original multicolored pigmentation of both skin and flesh as the fruit matures.
The color palette of the fruits changes with age: first tomatoes are green‑blue, then turn yellow‑striped and orange shades, and in full maturity acquire a rich red‑blue tone. The flesh is tricolor, with distinct blue veins, making the appearance of the fruits unusual and decorative. The photo shows the first lower fruits, which have a more intense coloration. The tomatoes of this variety have good taste, juicy flesh, and are suitable both for fresh consumption and for decorative salads.
