BRANDYWINE PINK. A popular mid-season tomato variety valued for its large, meaty fruits, rich sweet flavour and distinctive potato-leaf foliage. The plant is tall and vigorous, with a strong bush reaching approximately 1.5 m in height. A sturdy support is recommended, and the stems should be tied up in good time, as the heavy fruits place considerable strain on the plant. The variety performs best with proper care and adequate nutrition. The fruits are large, flattened-round and generally uniform in shape, with an average weight of around 300 g. When ripe, the tomatoes develop a beautiful deep pink colour. Beneath the thin skin is tender, juicy and meaty flesh of a rich reddish-raspberry hue.
The flesh has a pleasant aroma and a dense, almost creamy texture, making the fruits particularly suitable for slicing and preparing fresh salads. Their impressive size and appetising appearance make this variety a real highlight in the tomato garden. Brandywine Pink has a rich, distinctive flavour dominated by sweetness, balanced by a pleasant touch of acidity and the characteristic aroma of ripe tomatoes. The fruits are best enjoyed fresh, making this variety an excellent choice for salads, sandwiches, sliced tomato platters and summer dishes. Most of the harvest ripens relatively uniformly towards the end of the season. Brandywine Pink is an excellent choice for anyone who appreciates traditional large-fruited pink tomatoes with tender flesh.
