CALCUTTA, USA. Plant height in open ground conditions reaches 1.5-1.7 meters. This is an indeterminate, mid-season variety known for its high yield. The plants are vigorous, with strong stems and well-developed foliage, requiring support and pruning.
The fruits are large, weighing on average between 150 and 250 g, with an elongated shape resembling a slightly pointed plum or small pear. They are rich orange in color, with very meaty and dense flesh, yet not tough. These tomatoes store well after harvest and have excellent keeping and transport qualities.
TASTE AND ORIGIN
Taste is one of this variety’s main strengths. The fruits are sweet with a slight acidity, offering a balanced, rich, and very pleasant flavor. Perfect for fresh consumption, salads, sauces, juices, and other types of processing.
The origin of the variety is not fully confirmed, but there is evidence that it comes from India, from where it was introduced to the USA and gained popularity for its flavor and stable productivity.
