CANTATI 17 OXNER. A new release from Polish breeding, stabilized by Sofia Saakova, this is a truly rare variety featuring an unusual ochre-green coloration with pronounced anthocyanin overlay. Developed on the basis of the Cantati 17 line, it has attracted attention from the very first season thanks to its exotic appearance and high fruit quality. The plant is indeterminate, strong, and well balanced, reaching approximately 1.4-1.6 m in height in open ground. It shows excellent adaptation to weather conditions, steady growth, and reliable fruit set. The foliage is potato-leaf type — large, dense, and deep green, giving the plant a decorative look while effectively protecting the fruits from sunscald.
Fruits are large and uniform, with an average weight of 150-250 g. Their coloration is truly rare: the base tone is ochre-green, while the shoulders are adorned with deep blue-violet anthocyanin shades. As full ripeness approaches, light green streaks appear at the blossom end, gradually turning into a soft golden-yellow hue, creating a striking “living gradient” effect. The flesh is juicy and tender, green-amber in color, with a high juice content and a vivid aroma. The flavor is mildly sweet and complex, with distinct fruity notes — many compare it to ripe kiwi.
With a light touch of salt, the taste opens up even more deeply, becoming rich and perfectly balanced. Acidity is minimal, and the aftertaste is long and pleasant. This variety is intended for true connoisseurs of unusual tomatoes. It performs equally well in fresh salads, slicing, gourmet presentations, and as a decorative accent on the table. The anthocyanin coloration is not only visually striking but also emphasizes the modern character of the variety. This is not just a tomato, but a harmonious blend of flavor, aesthetics, and breeding craftsmanship.
