COEUR DE MARIE (Heart of Mary). A mid-season, tall, and high-yielding tomato variety, known for its consistent fruit production and excellent adaptability to both open field and greenhouse conditions. In open ground, plants grow to 1.5-1.6 m tall, and up to 1.8 m in greenhouses. The plants are strong and require staking and pruning. Fruits have a distinctive heart shape, small in size, weighing around 100-120 grams.
The flesh is very dense, almost meaty, with a consistency reminiscent of plum-shaped tomatoes from determinate varieties. The skin is thick and firm, making the fruits well-suited for storage and resistant to cracking. Both the skin and the flesh are rich, uniform red in color. Flavor-wise, the variety excels: the fruits offer a mildly sweet, balanced taste with light fruity notes and a pleasant aroma.
Suitable for fresh consumption as well as for canning, especially ideal for whole-fruit preservation and drying. Notably high in shelf life and transportability, making the variety attractive for commercial cultivation. The variety originates from France, although its precise origin remains unknown. Nevertheless, it has gained popularity for its excellent taste, dense texture, and resilience.
