COEUR DE ZEBRA APRICOT. A medium-height, mid-season, and extremely productive variety that combines excellent flavor with decorative appeal. In open ground, plants reach a height of 1.4-1.5 meters, forming strong, well-leafed bushes that require staking and pruning for optimal fruit development. The fruits are large and very striking — weighing between 160 and 350 grams.
They stand out with their unique heart shape and vibrant coloration — a refined blend of pink and orange shades that gives them a truly ornamental look and makes them a highlight of the garden. The flesh is meaty, juicy, and tender with a buttery texture that melts in the mouth. The flavor is sweet, rich, with a characteristic tomato aroma and fruity undertones. Tasting score: 5 out of 5.
VARIETY HISTORY
The variety was developed in France in 2007 by breeder Jean-Claude Boucher. It is the result of a cross between the well-known tomatoes ‘Coeur de Boeuf’ (Oxheart) and ‘Red Zebra’. It should not be confused with the similarly named variety ‘Zebra Heart’, which originated as a spontaneous mutation. This is one of those varieties that please both the eye and the palate.
Perfect for fresh use in salads, sandwiches, and veggie platters. It can also be used for sauces, juices, and paste thanks to its high dry matter content and strong flavor, but its main purpose is to delight fresh. A real gem for lovers of sweet, aromatic tomatoes with beautiful shape and vivid color.
