EMERALD COMET OF SOFIA. A brand-new original variety bred by Sofia Saakova, which reached the F7 stabilization stage in 2025. An almost fully stabilized collector's variety that captivates with its extraordinary coloration, elegant fruit shape, and outstanding fruity flavor. One of the most spectacular green-when-ripe tomatoes in modern breeding. A mid-early indeterminate variety with vigorous plants reaching about 1.8 m in open ground. Each truss produces 4–5 large fruits weighing 350–450 g, and the plants are highly productive.
The fruits range in shape from elongated plum-shaped to elegant heart-shaped with a pointed tip, with the heart shape becoming especially pronounced on the upper trusses. The base color blends emerald green and ochre shades that merge smoothly together, while the shoulders are covered with a rich ink-colored anthocyanin blush. The skin is extremely thin and almost imperceptible when eaten. Inside, the flesh is ochre-colored, tender, juicy, and highly aromatic. The seed cavities are very small, containing few seeds, while most of the fruit consists of rich, buttery flesh.
FLAVOR
The flavor is bright, fruity, delicately spicy, and beautifully balanced. Pronounced sweetness is complemented by a light refreshing acidity, while the tender flesh literally melts in your mouth, leaving a long fruity finish. Fully ripe fruits are best enjoyed immediately after harvest. They are ideal for fresh salads, tastings, and elegant vegetable platters.
