GOLDEN HOUR. A new 2023 breeding introduction from the legendary Wild Boar Farms. This is one of the most successful micro-dwarf tomatoes in recent years. The variety was created by Mark Sibbult based on crossing the famous Brad’s Atomic Grape with a micro-miniature tomato, which combined striking anthocyanin coloration, bush compactness, and excellent flavor. The plant is micro-dwarf, extremely compact, reaching up to 30 cm in height, yet surprisingly productive. The bush is neat, well-leafed, with foliage reliably protecting the clusters from sunscald. A true record-holder in its class.
The variety is characterized by its hardiness and stability, growing equally well in pots, containers, open ground, and greenhouses, making it a universal choice for balconies, terraces, and small greenhouses. The fruits are round-oval, dense, very firm. At the start of ripening, they have a yellow coloration with anthocyanin stripes, and at the final stage, they acquire a rich golden-yellow-orange hue, fully living up to its name. The tomatoes are exceptionally crack-resistant and can store for weeks at room temperature without losing flavor or marketable appearance.
The flesh is meaty, with a small amount of juice, dense yet tender. The flavor is distinctly tomatoey, sweet, with light fruity notes, very harmonious and rich for a micro-dwarf format. The fruits are ideal for fresh consumption, snacks, and salads. A feature of the variety is its uniform ripening – a significant part of the crop can be harvested at once. Furthermore, fully ripe fruits can be left on the plant until the remaining green ones mature, as they do not overripen or spoil. Golden Hour has demonstrated the highest yield among all micro-dwarf tomatoes.
