KIS-KIS. A mid-season, high-yielding and exceptionally striking variety that immediately attracts attention with its unusual shape and spectacular fruit coloration. The plants are indeterminate and very tall, easily reaching over 2.2 m (7.2 ft) in open ground. Plants are of medium vigor, with thin, slightly drooping foliage. Reliable support and timely staking are recommended. The trusses are simple and well loaded, usually carrying 5–7 fruits weighing 80–100 g each. The variety is characterized by reliable fruit set, a long fruiting period and good overall productivity. The fruits are the true highlight of this variety.
They are long, elongated, pepper-shaped plum tomatoes of a rich red color, with a distinctive thin, elongated tip. Their surface looks as if it has been painted with gold, decorated with numerous golden strokes, winding stripes and intricate patterns. As the fruits ripen, the coloration becomes even more expressive, making the clusters highly decorative and unusual. The tomatoes are dense and meaty, with very few seeds, and have a pleasant, rich flavor with a harmonious balance of sweetness and mild acidity. The skin is very firm, allowing the fruits to withstand transportation well, retain their marketable appearance for a long time and ripen beautifully after being picked.
The fruits contain very few seed chambers and remarkably little seed — even from a large ripe tomato, it can sometimes be difficult to obtain more than 5–7 fully developed seeds. This characteristic makes the variety particularly interesting for collectors and lovers of rare tomatoes. Its high dry-matter content makes KIS-KIS an excellent choice for drying, dehydrating and freezing: even after processing, the fruits retain their rich flavor, aroma and meaty texture.
