MAMMOTH GERMAN GOLD. An old family heirloom variety that is over 150 years old. This very old tomato belongs to the heirloom category and dates back to the 1880s. Its exact origin is unknown, but collectors believe it most likely originated in Germany. Over the years, the variety has won the love of generations of gardeners for its beauty, flavor, and stable yield.
Mid-season, tall, indeterminate type. In open ground, plants reach about 1.5 meters in height, forming a strong, well-foliated bush that requires staking and forming into 1-2 stems. This variety adapts well to both open field and greenhouse cultivation, showing good resistance to stress and reliably producing abundant harvests.
YIELD AND FLAVOR
The fruits are a real gem in any collection. Large, uniform, weighing between 400 and 600 grams, and with proper care — up to 700 g or more. The tomatoes are round, slightly flattened, with dense, marbled flesh of exceptional beauty: the inside is covered with vivid pink and golden streaks. The flavor is outstanding — very sweet, rich, fruity-tomato-like with a delicate aftertaste.
The flesh is dense, meaty, with little gel and no hollows — nearly “all meat.” Ideal for fresh eating, salads, sauces, and homemade tomato paste. Yield is at the level of top varieties — up to 5-7 kg of premium fruits per plant. Perfect both for personal consumption and market sales — the appearance and taste are striking from the first glance.
