MILK PEARL (PERLE DE LAIT). A French family heirloom whose seeds were obtained by Pascal Antigny from a gardener in the Loire-Atlantique department in western France. This is a mid-season variety with good productivity and a long fruiting period, beginning in mid-season and continuing almost until the first frosts.
The plants are sturdy, reaching about 1.4–1.6 m in height and producing a good crop of fruit. The tomatoes are flat-round, with some fruits showing a slight heart-shaped form. When fully ripe, the fruits develop a delicate milky-yellow to creamy-yellow color, sometimes with a subtle pink blush on the upper part.
The fruits are large, usually weighing 200–400 g, while individual tomatoes can reach 600 g with good growing conditions. The flesh is juicy, meaty and tender, with a pleasant aroma. The flavor is mild, refined and sweet, with low acidity, making the tomatoes especially enjoyable when eaten fresh.
Perfect for salads, thick slices and sandwiches. The unusual light coloring, large meaty fruits and delicate sweet flavor make this French family heirloom particularly appealing for a collection of white-fruited tomatoes.
