MINUSINSKY HIGH-YIELDING. A mid-season family heirloom tomato variety from Minusinsk, valued for its good productivity and large, meaty fruits. The plants are indeterminate, with sturdy bushes that can reach approximately 1.8 metres in height. They require support and regular removal of side shoots. In regions with cool summers, especially in the central growing zone, this variety is best cultivated in a greenhouse. The fruits are round-heart-shaped and bright red. They usually weigh 250–300 g and can grow even larger under favourable conditions. The flesh is firm, dense and meaty, with an attractive pinkish-red colour inside.
The flavour is sweet and rich, making these tomatoes especially suitable for home cooking. Each truss can produce up to seven fruits that ripen fairly evenly. The variety has a long fruiting period and, in favourable weather, continues producing until the first frosts. As the fruits develop and ripen gradually, the harvest can be collected over an extended period. The sturdy plants cope well with the weight of the large tomatoes, although staking helps keep the bushes and trusses stable. The variety is noted for its high resistance to diseases and its ability to withstand various growing stresses.
The firm, meaty flesh makes these tomatoes particularly suitable for preparing thick sauces and flavourful juices. Their substantial pulp helps create a rich consistency when processed. The large fruits are also excellent for slicing and eating fresh. Their sweet flavour and vivid colour make them appealing in a variety of homemade dishes. This variety will reward you with a harvest of large, meaty tomatoes.
