PIERCE'S PRIDE. A medium-sized, mid-season, super-productive tomato variety with impressive stability and reliability. The plants are strong and well-leafed, reaching heights of 1.2-1.4 m in open ground and up to 2 m in greenhouses. Such a plant perfectly supports development and fruiting. The fruits have an attractive chocolate hue with a delicate pink core, making them not only visually appealing but also delicious. They are round, slightly flattened with varying degrees of ribbing, weighing from 150 to 400 grams.
The skin is dark purple-black with green shoulders, and the flesh is juicy, meaty, purple, with multiple locules. The flavor is rich, complex, and full-bodied, making this tomato a favorite among gourmets. After full ripening, the fruits store well without losing their taste qualities, so they can be used both fresh and for processing without hurry. In the 2018 season, the flavor and yield of this variety were highly rated at 4 to 4.5 points.
A few words about the variety’s origin: it is a stabilized cross of ‘Happy's happy’ and ‘Black Krim’, bred by Larry Pierce for Baker Creek and first introduced in 2006 in the Seed Savers Yearbook. This variety combines high productivity, beauty, and excellent taste. An excellent choice for both enthusiasts and professionals aiming to achieve a rich harvest of unique tomatoes. Consistently excellent performance even under adverse conditions.
