PURPLE LIGHTNING. Indeterminate, mid-season tomato variety with a striking coloration and high anthocyanin content. Plants reach about 1.5 m in height, forming strong, sturdy bushes with potato-type foliage that provides excellent protection for the fruits against sunscald. Each truss usually sets 3-4 large fruits weighing between 150 and 300 g. The flavor is fruity and rich, with a pronounced sweet note and a light tang that creates an “explosive” taste sensation.
The yield is consistently above average, and the fruiting period is extended. Fruits are flattened-round, bright yellow-orange, with characteristic “ink-like” rays radiating from the stem end — the pattern truly resembles flashes of lightning in the sky. The flesh is dense, meaty, rich yellow in color, with a minimal number of seed cavities, making the interior almost entirely juicy “meat.” Thanks to its decorative appearance and harmonious flavor, this variety is equally excellent for fresh eating and for sauces.
