RIPENED STRAWBERRY, SPUDAYELLOW STRAWBERRY, USA. A rare heirloom variety of American origin with a fascinating history. It was discovered in 2006 by the well-known tomato collector Bill Malin (Spudleaf Willie) from Hillsboro, New Mexico, who was widely recognized among tomato enthusiasts for his passion for potato leaf varieties. The variety is believed to have originated from a natural cross between the famous German Red Strawberry and an unknown potato leaf variety. The result is one of the most spectacular large-fruited golden-orange tomatoes with truly exceptional eating quality.
A mid-late season indeterminate variety with a vigorous, well-developed plant. In open-ground cultivation, plants reach about 1.7 m (5.6 ft) in height, producing strong stems and large, heavily loaded fruit clusters. Each truss carries 6-7 large fruits weighing 350-500 g, providing consistently high yields. The fruits are very large and heart-shaped, becoming especially elegant and elongated from the second truss onward. They feature gently ribbed shoulders, a smooth glossy surface, and a magnificent golden-amber color.
At full maturity, the tomatoes seem to glow from within, combining warm shades of gold, honey, and rich amber. The thin skin is barely noticeable when eaten, while the fruits display outstanding market appeal. When sliced, they reveal a uniform amber-golden flesh without green or pink areas. The seed cavities are extremely small, with very few seeds, so almost the entire fruit consists of tender, meaty flesh. At full ripeness, the texture becomes rich and buttery, literally melting in the mouth.
FLAVOR
The flavor is exceptionally delicate, rich, and dessert-like. Intense fruity sweetness blends harmoniously with gentle honey notes and an almost imperceptible refreshing acidity. The flesh is very juicy, aromatic, velvety, and buttery, leaving a long, pleasant finish with fruity overtones. It is one of those varieties especially prized by lovers of large-fruited yellow-orange tomatoes with gourmet flavor. The fruits are perfect for fresh eating, salads, vegetable platters, thick juices, and homemade sauces.
Their impressive size, nearly seedless flesh, and remarkable tenderness make this variety a true summer delicacy. Ripened Strawberry is one of the most spectacular golden heart-shaped tomatoes of American origin. It combines enormous beautiful fruits, dependable productivity, nearly seedless buttery flesh, and an exceptionally delicate fruity-honey flavor. A variety that captivates with its beauty and wins you over from the very first bite.
