VIOLETA DE CADIZ. A collection variety of Italian breeding. Despite its name, which references the Spanish city of Cadiz, the variety originates from Italy. This is a luxurious large-fruited tomato valued not only for its size but also for its extraordinary depth of color. The variety is mid-early, indeterminate. The bush is powerful, sturdy, reaching about 1.4 m in height in open ground. The cluster forms 2-3 huge fruits weighing 650-750 g each, with good care specimens of 300-800 g and more are possible.
The clusters require staking due to the substantial weight of the fruits. The fruits are flat-round, distinctly ribbed, with expressive facets and slightly swollen shoulders. The appearance is impeccable — without cracks or green, hard areas. This is a tomato that is eaten entirely, leaving only the stem. The coloration is truly unique. The fruits have a matte-purple coating with shimmers. Depending on the lighting, you can see pink, purple, and even brownish hues. The color is deep, complex, noble — a true gift for connoisseurs.
In cross-section, the flesh is chocolate-purple, dense, meaty, with green gel in the seed chambers. The structure is rich, seeds are few. The taste is bright, explosive, aromatic, and rich. Sweetness harmoniously combines with a light, balanced tartness. This is a variety with a pronounced tomato character and a deep flavor palette. "Violeta de Cadiz" is an impressive choice for those who value beauty, rarity, and a truly rich taste. One of those tomatoes that you don't just grow, but remember.
