ZEBRA EZEL. A tomato variety bred by the renowned U.S. breeder Tom Wagner, with the famous and exceptionally productive Green Zebra as one of its parents. From its “ancestor,” this novelty inherited the striking coloration and high productivity but developed larger, meatier fruits and an even richer flavor. The plant is indeterminate and mid-season, forming vigorous, densely foliated bushes with sturdy, thick stems that can reach 1.8 m. It thrives equally well in open ground and greenhouses, tolerates temperature fluctuations, and sets fruit reliably even in changeable weather. Fruits are large, weighing 150-350 g, flattened-round, often with attractive pronounced ribbing.
The skin has a deep brown-bronze base, decorated with elegant green streaks and stripes. The flesh is highly ornamental, showing a mix of light green and pink shades with a bright pink “heart” at the center. Flavor is a true gourmet highlight: bright, sweet-tart, complex, and spicy, with exotic fruity and wine-like notes. The flesh is tender, buttery, and juicy, with a firm yet thin skin, making the fruits perfect for fresh salads, sliced platters, sauces, and preserves. This variety stands out for its stable yields, decorative appeal, and unique taste, becoming a jewel in any tomato collection and an excellent choice for lovers of unusual color palettes.
