ATOMIC SUNSET (USA). This mid-season variety hails from the United States and showcases a beautiful and rare color combination. Developed by renowned Californian breeder Brad Gates, it is a cross between 'Brad's Atomic Grape' and 'Orange Roma' tomatoes. Suitable for cultivation in both open fields and greenhouses, this determinate, medium-height plant reaches between 50 to 100 cm.​

The plant features slender, vine-like stems adorned with numerous flower clusters, each setting 5–7 elongated, lemon-colored plum-shaped fruits with subtle light stripes, averaging 20–30 grams (some up to 60 grams). The fruits are firm, with thin yet sturdy walls. When sliced, the interior reveals a light yellow hue.​

The flesh is quite juicy and sweet, with a mild fruity aroma. 'Atomic Sunset' boasts very high yields and is suitable for salads, side dishes, and canning. This cross contains the genetics of the popular 'Brad's Atomic Grape', resulting in vibrant yellow-orange plums with dark anthocyanin shading on the shoulders—truly unique and visually appealing!

FLAVOR OF ATOMIC SUNSET

At full ripeness, the fruits are sweet, with a rich flavor and a subtle fruity note—intense, very juicy, and melt-in-your-mouth. They look wonderful in jars and are resistant to cracking. An interesting feature of this tomato is that the longer it remains on the plant, the richer and sweeter its flavor becomes.​
