BEAR PAW BRONZE. A mid-early, tall, high-yielding amateur-bred tomato variety that has gained popularity thanks to its unique fruit shape and outstanding flavor. It was named for its unusually large, flattened fruits that resemble the imprint of a bear's paw. The variety combines exceptional fruit size with excellent productivity. Plants are vigorous, well-developed, and reach about 1.5 m (5 ft) in open ground, producing strong stems capable of supporting heavy crops. Each truss bears 4–5 fruits weighing 500–800 g. Plants are usually grown with one or two stems.
Lower leaves and side shoots should be removed, and regular suckering prevents excessive foliage growth. Due to the weight of the fruits, staking and careful support are essential. Fruits are flattened, often ribbed near the stem end, with an unusual bronze-green skin. The flesh is meaty, sugary, juicy, and pleasantly crumbly. Inside, the flesh is bicolor: when fully ripe, a striking red "tie" appears in the center, surrounded by emerald-green seed gel. The flavor is rich, intense, and exceptionally aromatic, making this variety a true gourmet tomato.
