FATIMA. A medium to mid-late ripening variety, primarily intended for cultivation in protected ground (greenhouses and hotbeds), though under favorable conditions it can also be grown outdoors. The plant is vigorous, well-leaved, which protects the fruits from sunburn. Bushes reach medium height, demonstrating steady growth and good fruit set even under temperature fluctuations.
The main feature of this variety is its very large drooping fruits, weighing 220-240 g or more. The shape is triangular, elongated-conical, with a blunt tip. Typically, each fruit develops 3-4 seed chambers, though two-chambered fruits also occur. The skin is thin yet firm, with a smooth and glossy surface. At the technical maturity stage, fruits are green, while at full biological ripeness they turn a deep, rich red.
The flesh is juicy, fleshy, and has an excellent sweet taste without bitterness, accompanied by the characteristic aroma of sweet peppers. The variety is versatile in use: fruits are perfect for fresh consumption in salads as well as for cooking — stewing, stuffing, and baking. Thanks to their large size and attractive color, Fatima peppers are often used for winter preparations such as lecho, pickling, and freezing.
