SOFIA’S PURPLE APPLE. A striking ornamental–culinary variety that immediately draws attention with its unusual, vivid fruits. The tomatoes are colored in a rich raspberry-purple shade and adorned with a dense anthocyanin “cap” that becomes even darker and more pronounced under direct sunlight. Deep purple streaks and iridescent tones create a unique visual effect, giving each fruit a truly exotic appearance. The plant is tall — in open ground it reaches about 1.8 meters.
This is a mid-season variety that forms strong, even clusters and is distinguished by high productivity. The plants are vigorous and well-leafed, requiring staking and pruning. The fruits are large, flat-round, weighing 150-300 grams, well-shaped and attractive. The flesh is meaty, firm yet juicy, with a rich aroma. The flavor is sweet and well-balanced, with a light acidity and pronounced fruity or even spicy-apple notes. This makes the variety versatile — excellent fresh, in salads, sauces, or sliced.
Anthocyanin pigmentation is one of the key features of this variety. It appears especially intensely on the sun-exposed side of the fruits, creating a dense purple-black cap and dark streaks that make the tomatoes visually expressive and collectible. The variety was bred by Sofia Saakova, known for her unique purple and anthocyanin tomatoes. It fully lives up to its name — a true ornamental delicacy combining beauty, meaty texture, and excellent flavor.
