SUPER SIOUX. Variety developed by the University of Nebraska in 1944, USA. A mid-season, medium-tall, and highly productive variety with regular leaf type. In open ground, plants reach about 1.2 meters in height, forming neat, sturdy bushes that are noted for their resilience and tolerance to unfavorable weather conditions. The fruits are large, weighing between 120 and 220 grams, uniform, nicely rounded, attractive, and of market quality. Externally, they have a deep red color, while inside they feature a clean pink-crimson flesh without green or white spots.
Thanks to their dense texture, the fruits are also excellent for culinary use: baking, preparing thick sauces, and winter preserves, where it is important to retain shape and rich tomato flavor. The plants perform exceptionally well in hot and dry regions, are resistant to cracking, and set fruit reliably even at high temperatures. The seeds of this variety were obtained from the USA, which emphasizes its rarity and original origin.
The flesh is firm, thick-walled, with minimal juice, which allows the fruits to hold their shape perfectly when sliced. The flavor is balanced but with a pronounced acidity and light astringency, making this tomato especially appealing to lovers of varieties with a refreshing “tangy” note. It is particularly delicious fresh — in salads, where its taste unfolds beautifully in combination with onions and sour cream.
