TAMINA. Also known as Matina. An early, medium-tall and high-yielding tomato variety, developed in Germany in 1980. Since its introduction, it has quickly gained popularity in many European countries due to its reliability, resistance, and excellent fruit flavor. Plants form strong but relatively compact bushes, about 1.2 m tall in open ground. The foliage is potato-leaved, large and dense, giving the plants a decorative appearance. Fruit set is abundant and prolonged.
One of the main features of this variety is its high disease resistance: even in unfavorable seasons, the leaves remain healthy, without damage or signs of late blight, ensuring consistently high yields. The trusses produce numerous round fruits weighing between 60 and 140 g. Tomatoes are bright red, uniform in shape and size, with smooth and firm skin. The flesh is juicy, tender, with two seed chambers. The flavor is fruity, well-balanced, combining sweetness with a pleasant acidity.
VARIETY CHARACTERISTICS
For an early tomato, the flavor is particularly remarkable: despite its earliness, the fruits rival many midseason and even late varieties in taste. The tomatoes are firm but not hard, retaining their shape well during cooking, which makes them ideal for whole-fruit canning and pickling. At the same time, they have excellent transportability and shelf life, which is highly valued by both farmers and home gardeners.
The variety is versatile in cultivation: it performs well both in open ground and in film greenhouses or tunnels. Recommended for both home gardens and commercial production. In summary, this is a time-tested German tomato variety that combines earliness, high productivity, disease resistance, and outstanding flavor, making it an excellent choice for fresh eating as well as for preserving.
