AJI CRISTAL. Berry Pepper (Capsicum Baccatum) – a medium-hot variety with a Scoville rating of 30,000-50,000 SHU. The heat ranges from medium to high, while the flavor remains mild, rich, and aromatic. The variety originates from Chile, where this type of pepper is highly valued for its bright aroma and culinary versatility. It is a medium-maturing variety: from transplanting seedlings to full fruit ripening takes 80-90 days. The plant is strong, well-branched, and can reach up to 1 meter in height.
It is highly productive and capable of providing abundant harvests throughout the season. The fruits are conical, 10-12 cm long, and change color from green to bright red-orange as they ripen. The flesh is firm, juicy, with characteristic citrus-berry notes. The main feature of the variety is its unique taste. The aroma and combination of sweet-citrus notes with heat are most pronounced in fruits that are not fully ripe.
This pepper is excellent for fresh consumption, for example, in vegetable and meat salads. It is used for making hot sauces, marinades, canning, and winter preparations. The fruits retain their shape and aroma even after heat treatment. The variety is suitable for both greenhouses and open ground. It prefers sunny areas with fertile soil, is relatively undemanding, and resistant to common diseases. With proper care, it produces consistently until frost.
