CHINOOK. A collectible mid-season variety developed by Karen Olivier. An indeterminate tomato with large heart-shaped fruits of a rich chocolate-purple color, combining spectacular appearance, outstanding fleshiness, and a rich spicy flavor. The vigorous plant reaches 1.8 m (6 ft) or more in open ground and is best grown with 1–2 stems. It performs well both outdoors and in greenhouses, producing consistently high yields.
The fruits are broad heart-shaped, smooth, without pronounced ribbing, weighing 200–400 g, while under good growing conditions individual fruits may reach 600–700 g. The skin is thin yet durable, making the fruits resistant to cracking while maintaining an attractive appearance. A versatile variety, ideal for fresh salads, slicing, sauces, juices, and tomato paste.
FLAVOR
The flesh is dark cherry-red, very dense, meaty, juicy, with few seeds and a rich tomato aroma. The flavor is full-bodied and complex, combining pleasant sweetness with spicy notes and a light refreshing acidity. The harmonious balance of dense texture, intense aroma, and rich flavor makes Chinook one of the finest dark-fruited heart-shaped tomatoes for fresh eating.
