FIRE COMET SOFIA. A signature variety bred by Sofia Saakova, and one of the most exciting new introductions of 2024. The variety is still completing its final stabilization stage, so slight variations in fruit shape may occur. Its defining feature is a unique "cosmic" fruit shape, found only in a few of the breeder's exclusive breeding lines. A mid-season indeterminate variety. In open ground, the plants reach about 1.8 m (5.9 ft) in height. They are moderately vigorous, with fine foliage and strong stems.
Each truss produces 2–3 large fruits weighing 180–250 g. Productivity is moderate. The fruits are elongated heart-shaped with a distinctive long, curved pointed tip that gives them a truly unique appearance. Their primary color is rich raspberry-pink, while the shoulders are covered with a dark blue anthocyanin blush. The glossy skin and smooth color transitions create the impression that the fruits are glowing. Inside, the flesh is dense, juicy, meaty, and highly aromatic. The seed cavities are small, filled with thick, sweet gel, and contain very few seeds.
FLAVOR
The flavor is bright, harmonious, and distinctly fruity. Rich sweetness is balanced by a light acidity, creating an intense dessert-like flavor with a long-lasting finish. The flesh is tender, aromatic, and exceptionally juicy. The fruits are perfect for fresh salads, tastings, and elegant vegetable platters, where their extraordinary beauty can be fully appreciated. Fire Comet Sofia is one of Sofia Saakova's most original creations, combining a unique fruit shape, spectacular anthocyanin coloration, and an outstanding fruity dessert flavor.
