MERCEDES. An ultra-early, high-yielding sweet pepper variety of the species Capsicum annuum. The period to technical ripeness is 88-103 days, and the first harvest is possible as early as 70-75 days after transplanting seedlings. The plant is standard-type, compact, about 60-70 cm tall, suitable for growing in open ground and greenhouses. It is characterized by resistance to diseases, including TMV, and a stable harvest. The fruits are conical in shape, sometimes slightly curved, smooth and uniform, weighing 160-220 g.
At technical ripeness, they are green; when fully ripe, they become a deep red color. The wall is thick — 7-9 mm, the flesh is juicy, dense, and very aromatic. The taste is sweet, rich, revealing itself especially brightly at full ripeness. The fruits do not crack, store well, and retain their marketable appearance. The variety is universal: excellent for fresh consumption, cooking, canning, and freezing. It is valued for its early ripening, large fruit size, and excellent flavor qualities.
