MINUSINSK YELLOW OXHEART. An old variety from the Minusinsk region of Siberia, part of the Khilenko family collection — guardians and collectors of folk varieties. A true heritage of Siberian breeding. The variety is mid-early, very productive — it forms literally "mountains" of fruits. Perfectly adapted to regions with short summers and cool climates, it sets fruit stably even under not the most favorable conditions. The bush is vigorous, strong, with moderate foliage. According to various sources, it may exhibit indeterminate or semi-determinate growth characteristics. In any case, the plant is distinguished by its resilience and good yield.
Fruits weigh 180-300 g, some can be larger. The shape varies: most often a classic heart-shaped "oxheart," sometimes with slight beefsteak-type features. The surface can be slightly or moderately ribbed. The color is bright yellow, with a slight reddish blush at the tip of the fruit when fully ripe. The flesh is dense, thick-walled, juicy, yellow with reddish streaks in the center. There are few seed chambers and few seeds. The taste is harmoniously sweet-sour, with a pleasant fruity note. The fruits are not hard but not watery either — they combine density and juiciness, excellent for fresh consumption, slicing, and home processing.
