QUESO DE PIMIENTO (CHEESE PIMENTO PEPPER). A mid-early variety with unique flat, round, bright-red fruits resembling a small cheese wheel. Maturity occurs about 70-80 days after transplanting. Plants are compact, medium-high (50-60 cm), with strong stems and good foliage coverage, protecting the fruits from sunscald. Fruits are intensely red, meaty, aromatic, with thick juicy walls (up to 1 cm). The average diameter is 7-10 cm, thickness up to 5 cm, and weight ranges from 60 to 120 g depending on growing conditions.
The taste is very sweet, tender, yet rich in flavor. For centuries, Spanish cheesemakers have used this pepper to color and flavor their world-famous cheeses. This heat- and light-loving variety thrives in fertile soils. With proper care, it ensures stable yields even in challenging seasons. Queso de Pimiento is not only an attractive and delicious garden variety but also a true delicacy with a rich history.
