AMBER COMB. A spectacular stabilized variety bred by Ludmila Kodzasova (Latvia), captivating with its extraordinary combination of amber-orange hues, brilliant raspberry blush, and a delicate anthocyanin tint on the shoulders. It is one of the most beautiful modern bicolor tomatoes, admired equally for its striking appearance and exceptionally sweet fruity flavor. A mid-season indeterminate variety with a vigorous, well-developed plant. In open-ground cultivation, plants reach approximately 1.5 m (5 ft) in height.
The stems are strong, and the long, slightly drooping foliage provides excellent protection for the fruits from excessive sunlight. The variety is distinguished by reliable productivity and excellent fruit set throughout the season. Fruits are large, weighing 300-400 g. Most are beautifully elongated heart-shaped, although some develop an unusual plum-comb shape, which is a distinctive characteristic of the variety. The primary color is rich amber-orange, overlaid with a vivid raspberry-red blush.
In many fruits, the blush covers almost the entire surface, while the shoulders are decorated with a light anthocyanin bloom that enhances their ornamental appeal. The skin is thin, delicate, yet sufficiently strong, and is barely noticeable when eaten. When sliced, the fruits reveal juicy flesh with rich amber-orange and rosy-red tones. There are very few seed cavities, so most of the fruit consists of dense, buttery, exceptionally tender flesh.
FLAVOR
The flavor is truly dessert-like and remarkably rich. Pronounced fruity sweetness blends harmoniously with honeyed and tropical notes, with almost no acidity. The flesh is tender, juicy, buttery, and literally melts in the mouth, leaving a lingering fruity finish. The intense aroma of ripe fruit is noticeable as soon as the tomato is cut, making every tasting especially enjoyable. The fruits are perfect for fresh salads, vegetable platters, gourmet tastings, decorative presentations, and juice production.
Thanks to their spectacular bicolor coloration, they become the centerpiece of any table. Amber Comb is one of the finest Latvian bicolor varieties, combining large amber-orange fruits with a raspberry blush, tender almost seedless flesh, and an exceptionally sweet fruity flavor. A variety that can confidently be recommended to every admirer of beautiful and extraordinarily delicious tomatoes.
