DWARF BERYL BEAUTY. This variety is not yet fully stabilized, so occasional plants may exhibit minor segregation in certain traits. This is a characteristic feature of the variety and should be taken into account when ordering seeds. An interesting American variety from the Dwarf Tomato Project, introduced in 2011 as part of the international Open Source Seed Initiative. It quickly gained popularity among enthusiasts of green-when-ripe tomatoes thanks to its unusual coloration, harmonious flavor, and compact growth habit.
A mid-season determinate variety with a sturdy, compact plant. In open-ground cultivation, plants reach about 1 m (3.3 ft) in height. Unlike most members of the dwarf series, the plant has a more open structure and regular leaf foliage, although some plants may also produce potato leaves. The stems are strong and support the crop well, while the plant is vigorous, resilient, and easy to grow. Fruits are round to slightly flattened, smooth, weighing 80-200 g, most commonly 150-170 g.
At full maturity, the fruits remain pale green with a warm golden hue and a delicate pinkish-amber blush on the sun-exposed side. This subtle coloration makes the variety easily recognizable among other green-when-ripe tomatoes. The flesh is juicy, meaty, light green, and contains few seeds. The skin is thin yet sufficiently strong, so fruits rarely crack and maintain an excellent appearance after harvest.
FLAVOR
The flavor is exceptionally pleasant, harmonious, and well balanced. Natural sweetness is complemented by a light refreshing acidity, creating the classic dessert flavor typical of premium green-when-ripe tomatoes. The flesh is tender, juicy, with a delicate fruity aroma and a long, pleasant finish. The fruits are excellent for fresh salads, vegetable platters, and tasting collections. Yield is moderate but consistently reliable.
The main strength of this variety is not record-breaking productivity but rather the outstanding quality of its fruits, their elegant coloration, and exceptional flavor. It is a refined representative of green-when-ripe tomatoes, combining a compact plant, beautifully colored fruits, and a harmonious sweet-and-tart taste. An excellent choice for collectors of Dwarf Tomato Project varieties and for everyone who appreciates unusual tomatoes with delicate aroma and refined flavor.
